Along with Communion, this is time time to savor the moment! Amazing, how the most important day in the church year can have some of the shortest readings, but there is a good reason for that. We’ve known what was coming, and this is the moment of realization that it has happened! And so. let’s savor it!

Along with appreciating our human nature which demonstrates our need for Divine Grace on a daily basis (if you happen to see).

Blessed Be!

Palm Sunday – Church Back Home- March 24, 2013

This is the time of year when we remind ourselves of what our weekly Sacrament came from and what it’s about. So much can be said about the Good Friday story, and it has been, and written too! From the scholars who point out the number of ways Jesus’ arrest, trial and sentencing violated the laws of the time to the pain, agony, humiliation and degradation of crucifixion, it brings into focus just what Jesus went through on that Good Friday.

But, this is the only way provided for us to get to Easter.

Blessed Be!

Passion Sunday -Church Back Home- March 17, 2013

Here’s a story that could be today if it weren’t for who it was happening to! And I’m grateful for Pope Emeritus Benedict for pointing out that in the Gospel narratives, references to “the Jews” are references not to the ordinary folk, but the caste-like leadership establishment of the time.

And here we see Jesus teaching outside of the establishment’s comfort zone and getting them upset. And they claim he has a devil! Does that sound familiar to anyone? And he utters something which only within the early 20th century was it demonstrated how it can be.

And so with our Passion Sunday sacrament, we see proof of how infinite The Divine can be!

Fourth Sunday In Lent -Church Back Home- March 10, 2013

The Epistle makes a point, and the Gospel illustrates it, but it’s one of the gospel readings of which a lot of folks miss the point. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen Philip criticized for doing what he was supposed to do to show the magnitude of what was to happen. And little mention is made of the fact that someone brought something to contribute to the effort.

And so, along with Communion you get an illustration of what can happen in everything we do.

Third Sunday In Lent -Church Back Home- March 3, 2013

With today’s Holy Communion, we also get a chance to look at something that is so basic that it is often forgotten. Perhaps such points are why I call my audio podcast “The Secrets In Plain Sight”.

The idea of following a spiritual path is to move forward. And, there’s a reason for that. When you take a vow, you put something behind you – but there is something greater ahead of you. And if you look at it that way, what’s in today’s Gospel reading becomes all the more clear.
